OFF days and all-day events

A blank square on the calendar is ambiguous. Did the team genuinely have the day off, or did somebody forget to enter it? Families can’t tell, so they text or email to ask.

The fix is to schedule the nothing.

Create a “No Training” day

  1. + New event from /coach/events.
  2. Type → No Training.
  3. Pick the groups it applies to.
  4. Set the date. All day is already ticked.
  5. Save.

That’s it. The event shows on the family page and in every subscribed phone calendar, labelled No Training.

Why all-day

A No Training day is a statement about the whole day, not something you turn up to at 1pm. Every calendar app shows an all-day entry as a banner across the top of the day, where it reads at a glance, instead of competing with real events down in the time grid.

You can still give one a time. Untick All day and the start fills in where a session would have been — 1pm on a weekday, 8am at a weekend — running for an hour. Change it from there like any other event.

No RSVP is requested

A No Training day asks nobody whether they’re coming, because there’s nothing to come to. You don’t need to set an RSVP deadline or turn anything off — the type handles it.

Set the type to No Training and the RSVP deadline section disappears from the form, and from the series form as well. The event page shows a short note in place of the RSVP roster rather than filing every athlete under “no response”.

All-day events in general

All day is a tick on any event, including a No Training day. Turn it on and:

  • the family page shows All day instead of a time range
  • subscribed calendars show a banner at the top of the day rather than a block in a time slot

It’s on by default for races — a race day is a day, and the start time usually arrives by message after the team captains’ meeting — and for No Training days. Off for Training sessions and everything else. Untick it whenever you have real times.

When to use it

Good uses:

  • A scheduled rest day mid-week
  • Holiday closures
  • A weekend the team is travelling but not training
  • Anything where the absence of a session is itself the information

Don’t use it for a cancellation. If a session was scheduled and is now off, cancel the event instead — that keeps the audit trail honest and notifies families properly. See Cancel / un-cancel / delete.
