Put the calendar on your phone
This puts the club’s events into the calendar app you already use — the one that wakes you up in the morning. It updates itself: when an event moves, it moves on your phone too. You do this once per device.
You do not need to be an admin, and you do not need to copy anything out of a settings page you cannot reach.
First, get your link
- Sign in at
ts.onsnowlive.com/coachon the device you want the calendar on. - Open Settings (top bar, or ≡ → Settings on a phone).
- Find Calendar on your phone.
- You’ll see one row per calendar you coach. Most people want all of them.
Each row has a Subscribe button and, underneath, the same address as plain text in case you need to paste it somewhere.
Now follow the steps for your device.
- Do the steps above on the iPhone itself, in Safari.
- Tap Subscribe next to the calendar you want.
- iOS shows a box saying “Subscribing to Calendar” with the address. Tap Subscribe in the top right.
- Choose which account to put it in if it asks. iCloud is the usual answer. Tap Done.
- Open the Calendar app. The events are there.
Repeat for each calendar you coach.
If tapping Subscribe does nothing, you are probably in a browser other than Safari. Copy the plain address instead, then: Settings app → Calendar → Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Subscribed Calendar, paste, Next, Save.
Google Calendar cannot add a subscription from the phone. You do this part once on a computer, and it then appears on your phone automatically.
- On a computer, sign in to the coach tool and copy the plain
address (the one starting
https://) from Settings → Calendar on your phone. - Go to calendar.google.com.
- In the left column, next to Other calendars, click +.
- Choose From URL.
- Paste the address. Click Add calendar.
- On your Android phone, open the Google Calendar app → ☰ → Settings. Find the new calendar in the list and turn its Sync switch on.
Step 6 matters. Google adds the calendar to your account but leaves it switched off on the phone, which is why people say “I added it and nothing happened”.
- Open the Calendar app.
- Menu bar: File → New Calendar Subscription.
- Paste the plain address. Click Subscribe.
- Set Auto-refresh to Every hour. Click OK.
- Go to outlook.com or open Outlook on a computer.
- Add calendar → Subscribe from web.
- Paste the plain address, give it a name, click Import.
How to tell it worked
Open your calendar app and look for a session you know about. If the club has a practice event today, that is the easiest one to spot.
Good to know
It updates on its own. When a coach changes a time or cancels a session, your phone catches up. Apple checks roughly every hour, Google every few hours. So it is right, but not instant — a cancellation an hour before the session reaches you faster as a phone notification than as a calendar change. Turn those on in Settings too.
Subscribed, not editable. These events are read-only on your phone. Change events in the coach tool, not in your calendar app.
Keep the address to yourself. Anyone who has it can see that calendar. Treat it like a key: fine on your own devices, not for posting in a group chat. If one gets out, an admin can issue a new one from Calendars and groups, which turns the old address off.
Not the same as muting. Turning a calendar off in Settings → My calendars changes what the coach tool shows you. It does not remove a subscription you added to your phone. See Subscribe / mute calendars.
