Race-day details
When the event type is Race, the form unlocks a small set of extra fields. They exist so the race gets its proper name automatically, instead of you typing one into the Title box.
Fields
| Field | Used for |
|---|---|
| Discipline | GS / SL / SG / DH. Sits right under Type — it’s the first thing you pick after deciding it’s a race. |
| Category | Type it, or pick from the list. See below. |
| Gender | Men, Women, or Men & Women. |
| Races that day | How many races — not runs. Two GS races in one day is 2. A single race with two runs is 1. |
| Registration link | A link parents can tap to register externally. Optional. |
Category: type anything
The box suggests the ones you’ll use most — NorAm, UNI, FIS, NJR, CIT, ENL,
NC, JNC, Sync, YSL, ACO, Age Class, U16, U14, U12, U10 — but it isn’t a
closed list. Type straight over it for anything that isn’t there:
U16 NPS, GS Spectacular, U14 Super G, U16 R/C Champs.
Anything you type is remembered. Enter GS Spectacular once and it turns up
as a suggestion next time. The list gets better as you use it, without anyone
having to add names for you.
How the name is built
You don’t type the race name. Fill the fields above and it reads:
Category · Gender · Discipline · how many
| You picked | It reads |
|---|---|
| FIS · Men · SL · 2 | FIS M SL x2 |
| Sync · Men & Women · GS · 1 | Sync M/W GS |
| Age Class · Women · SL · 2 | Age Class W SL x2 |
The x2 sits with the discipline, because that’s what it’s counting — two slaloms, not two of anything else. And the count only shows when there’s more than one.
The same name appears everywhere: the events list, the month grid, the family’s page, the notification, and the calendar feed parents subscribe to. It is built in one place, so a race cannot read one way on your screen and another way on a parent’s.
If you want a different name
Type one into Title. A title you write by hand overrides the built name everywhere — no exceptions, no partial merge.
The Race box shows you what you’re going to get either way: “Will appear as FIS M SL x2”, updating as you type, and it tells you when your own Title is taking over.
All day
Races default to All day ticked. A race day is a day, not a two-hour slot, and an all-day entry sits at the top of the family’s calendar rather than at a start time that was only ever a guess.
Untick it if you have real start and end times and want them shown.
What gets notified
A race change (time, location, cancellation) sends push + Telegram to affected families if it’s within 48 hours, or goes to the What’s changed banner otherwise. See Parent pushes.
Why there is no hill or meeting time
The race form deliberately does not carry Hill, Meeting time, Meeting location, Sanctioning body or per-gender inspection and run times. In practice they were rarely filled in, and a mostly-empty form makes the fields that do matter hard to find.
Put anything of that kind in Notes, which reaches families on their page, in the daily email and in their subscribed calendar.
For anything race-specific that a parent needs to know, put it in Notes — it shows on the family’s event card, in the calendar feed, and in the notification.
